UCI Mountain Press Release: The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is pleased to announce that Maxime Marotte (FRA), Rebecca McConnell (AUS), Greg Minnaar (RSA) and Myriam Nicole (FRA) have been elected to represent mountain bike athletes on the UCI Athletes’ Commission. The first two will represent cross-country specialists, while the remaining two will represent downhill specialists.
The election was organised during the 2021 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships held in Val di Sole (Italy) from 24 to 29 August.
Cross-country
Maxime Marotte and Rebecca McConnell were chosen from among six candidates – three men and three women – by athletes (Elite and Under-23) registered for the event. Maxime Marotte obtained 47% of the votes for the male candidates, while Rebecca McConnell reached 71.1% of the votes for the female candidates.
Greg Minnaar and Myriam Nicole (both downhill 2021 UCI World Champions) were both re-elected from among three candidates – two men and one woman – by athletes registered for the Elite competition. Greg Minnaar obtained 52.7% of the votes for the male candidates while Myriam Nicole, the only female candidate, was re-elected by acclamation.
